Developing the skills young people need in today’s media world.
If you are an organization based within London and Essex, it’s easy to get involved in the Vlogstar Challenge.
Simply register to host a Vlogstar training workshop and our experienced trainers will do the rest. They will come to your premises and deliver a free, one-day training session that equips young people with the skills and confidence they need to create powerful and compelling vlogs using just their smartphone. They will also teach them how to share their vlogs across YouTube in a safe and responsible way.
By taking part in the workshops your young people will:
Learn how to voice their opinions in a way that can get them noticed.
Develop an understanding of social media so they can effectively champion causes and social action projects that matter to them.
Practice presenting techniques that will help to get their message across and improve their confidence.
Discover how to shoot, edit and produce compelling video content, as well as how to share their content safely across YouTube.
Everyone that attends a workshop will be prompted to submit their best vlogs into the 2019/20 Vlogstar Challenge competition.
150 of the best entries* will be shortlisted for the Vlogstar Challenge semi-finals and invited to join us at YouTube HQ in London for a day of expert tuition and mentoring in July 2020.
Once you submit your semi-finalist vlog, our judges will then select 15 finalists who will all receive access to the YouTube Space in London to learn additional new skills and develop film material for their YouTube channels.
The 15 finalists will all receive access to YouTube’s state of the art production space to learn additional new skills and develop film material for their YouTube channels.
Said final 15 will also join us at the live final at the YouTube Space in London, where one lucky vlogger will be crowned the 2020 Vlogstar Challenge winner. The winner will receive £2,000 for their chosen non-profit organization, £500 worth of production equipment, mentoring from YouTube’s experts and work experience with Media Trust's corporate partners.
*The participants that continue to refine their vlogging skills, create original new content and develop their YouTube channels by uploading more vlogs with original content and optimising videos, following the workshops, will be given preference.*
"To date, more than 5,900 young people from
across London and Essex have been trained on how to create, shoot and edit vlogs."
How do I sign up to host a workshop for my young people?
The hunt for our 2020 Vlogstar Challenge Champion has already begun!
If you work with 16-25 years olds that would like to develop their understanding of social media and how they can use it effectively and responsibly then sign up to host a vlogging workshop today.
Simply complete our short application form to book your one-day training workshop.
(You will be redirected to the Media Trust website to complete your application form).
For a training workshop to run, we need a guaranteed minimum of 25 people to take part, and it must be hosted on your premises (you can opt to take more workshops if desired). If you are unable to reach the minimum 25 required for us to run a workshop on your premises but have a handful of young people that are interested in taking part, we're also providing a monthly vlogging workshop in London that individual young people can book onto.
Once we receive your application, one of our team will be in touch to discuss your request in more detail. Alternatively, get in touch to find out more about how you can get your young people involved.
