Countdown to the Final at BAFTA
Our 15 finalists of the 2018 Vlogstar Challenge, have gone from filming in their bedrooms to preparing to have their final competition entry videos screened at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on 31 July . It’s safe to say that it has been a journey for all of them.
The annual Vlogstar Challenge programme and competition is powered by Jack Petchey Foundation and Media Trust and run in partnership with YouTube and the Evening Standard. The programme trains young people, between 16-25, across London and Essex to create their own video blogs(vlogs). They are then invited to submit their vlogs to the competition in the hope of winning coveted a place at the final at BAFTA.
Many of the finalists entries explore different issues effecting youth in Britain today including identity and knife crime. However, not all of them are focused on such serious topics. For instance, one of the entries is a comedic vlog on how to be a vlogger with a quick scene of two people fighting over a tripod like a game of tug of war.
On the night of the final, one of them will be announced as the champion! They’ll receive £500 worth of camera equipment and 1-2-1 mentoring from YouTube’s experts which will undoubtedly add further success to getting their vlogs out there for people to watch.
You can check out their semi-final vlogs here.
Vlogstar Challenge will start again in September. Sign up here if you or your organisation are interested in participating in a workshop.
